War of the Fourth Coalition : Jena

Napoleon was disgusted with Ney's rashness, but decided to rescue him nonetheless. Lannes was ordered to move back into Vierzehnheilegen. There was now close-quarter, bloody street-fighting as Gazan's 2nd Division re-entered the fray. They briefly got through the village and made contact with Ney's right, but were soon driven back by volleyed infantry fire. It is fitting that the main monument to Jena stands in the church of this village.
