Looking north from the Windknollen, the village of Closewitz is on the right. Lannes named this village as the object of his first attack, but poor visability meant that the 1st Division of General Suchet actually attacked the road heading west to Lutzeroda, which follows the line of the trees. This was the position of Rechten's and Zweiffel's regiments, under von Tauentzien.
