Leipzig should really be viewed as a series of smaller encounters over a period of three days. Lookng east past a monument to the Battle of Wachau, it stands on the Galgenberg hill by Lieberwolkwitz, and so in the centre of that battle. Lieberwolkwitz was the largest cavalry battle in history, and the last charge of Marshal Murat, King of Naples, under the colours of his Emperor.
