We are now looking on the other side of the Leipzig road, towards the Swedish right wing. The single drainage ditch beside the road can be seen in the foreground. When the Swedes had to attack across this road there was one on each side (making it very difficult for cavalry), and they were dug out further and filled with musketmen.
