War of the Prussian Liberation : Lutzen

This monument to King Friedrich Willhelm III stands on the site of the Monarch's Hill, about 1km south of Grossgorschen on the road to Pegau. The Russian main army reached here just before 4pm and Wittgenstein took the offensive by sending in Yorck's Corps. Hunerbein attacked Kleingorschen, Horn moved on Rahna, taking these villages for the third time. The counter-attack of the Young Guard pushed them back and Scharnhorst received his wound. Finally Duke Eugene of Wurttemberg's 2nd Corps pushed all of Ney's men from the four villages and to the other side of Kaja.
