This is the ground that Ney charged over, towards the English position to the right (from their POV) of the Lion Mound. Just over the fold of ground on the horizon, the English would have been waiting for the French cavalry, formed in squares. With his Emperor temporarily away from the field, the determined Marshal attacked this position anything up to a dozen times, practically wiping out Napoleon's cavalry.
