This was Napoleon's view of the battlefied from his forward headquarters at La Belle Alliance farmhouse on the 18th. The enormous 'Lion Mound' that dominates the field today stands in the centre of the British line, on the spot where the Prince of Orange was injured. Wellington was the first of many still horrified at its disproportionate size, but the Belgian King certainly succeeded in making us remember his son.
